Michael Perez - Relaxotherapy: Threat or Menace?!

    Format: MP4 Video Download.

The change | phenomena hypnotism conference features a variety of experienced hypnotists and hypnotherapists lecturing on their current thinking, approaches and techniques. It features a number of remarkable live demonstrations and a panel session with questions from the audience. The guest host in 2015 was The Verbal Surgeon Tim A. Cummins.

Relaxotherapy: Threat or Menace?! In many circles, the notion of doing 'old-fashioned' long-form hypnotic inductions or inducing sleep-like states is derided as being at best an unnecessary waste of time or, at worst, ineffective and "not even hypnosis."

Are these concerns justified? Michael Perez brings together material from experimental psychology and neuroscience to propose a possible answer as to the merits (or the lack thereof) of the 'low and slow' approach to hypnotic facilitation.

Michael Perez is a hypnotist in his third decade of using these skills in the context of coaching, facilitation and training. Michael has been both a student and teacher of both authoritarian and indirect hypnotic approaches, although these days he describes his work and working style as 'flexible'. Michael has been keenly interested in the practical applications of cognitive neuropsychology as they apply to hypnosis and has a vision for using insights from emerging science as a lens for reassessing the various procedures we group under the heading 'hypnosis'.
